Meet Dr. Travis Heckes, a board-certified chiropractor and physiotherapist at Advanced Sports and Family Chiropractic and Acupuncture of Overland Park, Kansas. Growing up in South Central Kansas, Dr. Heckes knew he wanted to help people from an early age.

After graduating high school, Dr. Travis attended college for pre-med but became increasingly dissatisfied with the direction the medical community was taking, which focused on symptoms rather than on the patient. As an avid runner, Dr. Travis experienced back pain and was frustrated with the treatments he received that focused on masking the pain rather than relieving and preventing it.

It wasn’t until Dr. Heckes experienced the natural healing power of chiropractic care that he optimized his health and wellness. After his chiropractic journey, Dr. Travis Heckes decided he wanted to make chiropractic care his career. He learned that proper healthcare wasn’t just about symptom management through invasive procedures or addictive medications, but about providing a holistic way to correct underlying causes of problems.

Dr. Heckes attended Cleveland Chiropractic College in Kansas City, Missouri, and earned his Doctor of Chiropractic in 2002. Dr. Travis practiced in South Central Kansas for a few years before moving back to Kansas City to start his practice. Dr. Travis Heckes is a nationally board-certified Physiotherapist and a certified Chiropractic Wellness Lifestyle Practitioner. He is also trained in instrument-assisted adjusting, kinesio taping, and instrument-assisted soft tissue work.

When Dr. Travis is not treating patients, he can be found building or fixing things around the house, rebuilding old bicycles, or just tinkering with something.
