In this latest exercise video from our team of physiotherapy experts at Advanced Sports & Family Chiropractic & Acupuncture we are joined again by Joe our Director of Rehab at ASFCA and Cherish at our Belton/Raymore Missouri location as they demonstrate another set of exercises that are designed to strengthen and awaken the spine, as well as work your arms and shoulders while correcting your posture at the same time.

 

Follow These Step-by-Step Instruction to perform the Three TYW Exercises

This set of easy to do exercises is called the TYW and can easily be done from home. All you need is a resistance band which you can pick up at your next visit and something to wrap it around.

Now let’s get started!

Exercise One – The T Exercise: Grab both ends of your resistance band and extend your arms out to your sides with your thumbs pointing forward not up, holding this positions for 5 – 8 seconds followed by a 3 second count back to your neutral position.

This exercise is great for strengthening your rhomboid and trapezius muscles.

Exercise Two – The Y Exercise: Grab both ends of your resistance band and extend your arms down and out to your sides holding for 5 – 8 seconds followed by a 3 second count back to your neutral position.

This exercise is great for activating your rear deltoids and working your rhomboid and trapezius muscles as well as correcting posture and helping to awaken the spine.

Exercise Three – The W Exercise: Grab both ends of your resistance band and extend your arms out then you will bring your hands in creating a 90-degree angle with your thumbs pointed towards your head. Make sure that you are not dropping your elbow keep them straight like the T exercise. Hold this position for 5 – 8 seconds squeezing your shoulder blades together followed by a 3 second count back to your neutral position.

This exercise is great for holding all those adjustment from the previous exercises together and correcting overall posture. The three TYW exercises combine for one rep we recommend you do them in sets of ten.
