MUSCLE WEAKNESS
Are you Experiencing Muscle Weakness?
The brain is connected to all of the tissues and organs of the body through the nervous system. When the nervous system experiences interference or irritation the brain recognizes a problem is occurring at that location and will affect the other tissues in the area to attempt to fix the problem. For example the joint is experiencing pain with movement due to irritation of the joint and therefore nerve the brain will use the muscle to splint or guard the joint and prevent the painful motion until it can resolve the issue. This results in muscle tightness or hypertonicity.
The opposite situation can occur when a nerve loses its ability to communicate with a muscle dues to the nerve becoming trapped or injured in some way. When the nerve is not getting the signals from the brain back to the muscle then the muscle becomes weak and can even stop functioning completely resulting in muscle atrophy and/or paralysis of the muscle. This should be evaluated immediately. Chiropractors are specialist in the neuromusckuloskeletal systems function and can give you a thorough and effective evaluation and determine what care is necessary to restore normal function to that nerve. In many cases this problem can be treated non-invasively with light Chiropractic manipulation along with rehabilitative exercises to prevent the problem from returning or laser to reactivate the nerve tissue.
