RIB & CHEST PAIN
Pain from the ribs is usually described as a sharp, stabbing pain. You also often feel increased pain when you cough, sneeze, or take a deep breath. Many times, a violent cough or sneeze or abnormal twisting motion is enough to cause the rib dysfunction. Pain is often referred to the chest as well, so it is not surprising that people are often rush to hospital thinking something is wrong with their heart or lungs. After you figure out it is not an emergency your next stop should be your favorite Chiropractor in one of our “Top 5 Chiropractic Clinics in the United States” as rated by Integrity Doctors! Referred pain is a concept well known by Chiropractors and is an important consideration in Chiropractic treatment. If the condition is severe enough, the cartilage between the ribs and the sternum can become irritated and inflamed. This creates a very sensitive area on the front of the chest.
The Chiropractic examination is first aimed at ruling out serious medical problems. It is then followed by a detailed examination of the joints and muscles. The Chiropractor also will assess the movement of the individual ribs.
The aim of treatment is to restore normal movement, reduce pain, and reduce the muscle spasm using a variety of different Chiropractic adjusting techniques and therapies.
