The average heart beats about 115,600 times per day. Its beats are measured by minutes, days, years, time with loved ones, playing, working, and at rest. Most people do not give a single heartbeat a second thought until there is a problem, just like their spine. When this occurs, those same heartbeats suddenly consume the entirety of their attention.

In the United States alone, the most common cause of death for both men and women is heart disease . What makes this statistic worse is that most of the factors that lead to heart disease are preventable. Although certain traits like genetics do play a role, other manageable traits like a poor diet, lack of exercise, high cholesterol, obesity, and smoking lead to heart disease. Great news – Your chiropractor at ASFCA is an authority in assisting in these positive lifestyle changes to help Prevent!

What is Heart Disease?

Heart disease is a broad term used to encapsulate many cardiac-related conditions. Some of the more common and severe conditions related to heart disease are arrhythmias, coronary artery disease, cardiomyopathy, and heart attack.

Arrhythmia is the condition where there is a malfunction in the heart’s electrical impulses . This can result in irregular heartbeats or heartbeats that beat too slow or too fast. Coronary artery disease is the blocking or hardening of blood vessels, hindering their blood flow . In more severe cases, the blood flow can be blocked entirely. Cardiomyopathy is the condition where the heart has trouble pumping its incoming blood supply onward to the body . When the incoming blood backs up, it can cause unusual swelling in the extremities, or in more severe cases, instances of difficulty breathing when this same blood backs up into the lungs. The latter condition is an acute medical emergency known as congestive heart failure . Both congestive heart failure and cardiomyopathy are usually caused by prolonged periods of untreated high blood pressure . Heart attacks, medically known as myocardial infarction, is where oxygen deprivation causes portions of the heart muscle to die . Any of these heart conditions can lead to severe consequences up to and including death. Once your heart disease reaches a crisis point, swift medical interventions including medication and surgery, are required often to save your life. So don’t wait, prevent now!

How Chiropractors Treat Your Heart?

The Doctors and Staff at ASFCA want to help our patients avoid the pain and suffering that accompanies emergency cardiac treatments and any injuries. We want to guide our patients early in life on the road to health and wellness and help them prevent the need for any extreme medical intervention. Fortunately, Chiropractic Medicine and cardiology share similar principles when it comes to treating our patients’ hearts, spines, and bodies. Along with medication and invasive surgical interventions, most cardiologists prescribe lifestyle changes like proper diets and regular cardiovascular exercise to treat their at-risk patients’ hearts.

This natural and preventative Innovative Approach to Healthcare is how we treat all our patients at ASFCA. Our doctors take the time to evaluate each patient and get to know them and their specific conditions and concerns.
